Re: Moovlin RPG Episode 2

I must say it was better than the last one...
+'s:
-It now has (kinda) a plot, and some (almost) meaningful dialogue.

-'s:
-It's a very linear game. It's more like an interactive story (if thats what is supposed to be than.... its ok then)
-The (mini)-games are very simple in complexity, and I dont see how they relate to the story (but whatever).
-The collision detection is very simple and you can pretty much cheat the 'lava run' level

All in all its better than the last.
Heres how I'm going to rate it based on the program your stuck with and the 'limits' of the PSP. *all points are out of "10"

Gameplay: 5/10  Still basic, but is showing much improvment. It's not an RPG
(at  least not by my definition)
Graphics: 4/10    Ya I know your dealing with a crappy program, but the trophys
should be more than a red dot...
Presentation: 7/10  You did better with this game than the last one, and the story-
    line was kind of appealing.
Lasting Appeal: 6/10 Being able to fall and to lose keeps ppl intrested but this
    wasn't that engaging.
Overall Score: 6 / 10    It was ok but still needs more improvment in
next "episode" Maybe try to make it less linear different paths for the player,
maybe in the hotel level have different rooms and levels for wring turns.

Re: Moovlin RPG Episode 2

Thanks, I love clear feedback.

The third episode will have multiply choice puzzles, many things to find before you can excell.

I was thinking of a more puzzlish game. But with the psp, you must know the lag limits. Suprisingly, none of the mini movies lagged, but the volcano scene did.

For the graphics, I admit that I didn't spend much time on them, it is a pain sometimes.

Also, could you link me to a place that has a tut for curved hit tests? Like your bmx game.

Thanks a bunch.

Re: Moovlin RPG Episode 2

It's good - much better than the last ones. The gameplay is better and I think you designed it well. But you've got to watch out for the tiddly bits:

- at the very end where you still have the ability to control Moovlin: pressing the up arrow to attack linked to the frame on your sprite that was facing the left, so when you were facing right and attacked, you attack to the left.

- In his hotel room some of the things coming out from the side seemed a bit buggy, i'm not sure about this but you should sort it out one way or another.

That's all I can think of for -'s, hope it helps for when you make episode 3.

Re: Moovlin RPG Episode 2

Can you upload the source code? It might come in handy for Private Portable.

Nice work! It's really fun. But this type of game is only fun to play the first time.

I should make an episode just with Mini Games!

I can fit about 14 into an episode.

That would be really cool.

Moovlin Episode 5: Party Games!

Hehe....

Or Moovlin Party!Without moving around a board.(hehe...Mario Party...)
