Custom firmware is definitely worth the time (or money) you spend to get a Pandora's Battery. Do you know a friend with a PSP that already has custom firmware? If you don't, you can buy a Datel MAX Tool battery from places like WalMart, it works just like Pandora's Battery.

There is a big chance of screwing up your battery or exploding it if you try to cut the pin.
If this guy has any soldering skills then he should do it.
I bought a Tool battery myself and it works very good.
And also, you need a memory stick PRO duo to put some files on.
To do this very easly use a program named TOTALNewbi easyInstaller. It does the memorystick part for you automatically. You can find that program on www.dl.qj.net.
And of course, welcome to our forums!

Re: Need info about CFW
I agree with Rollinroll. The process of cutting the pin is very dangerous, your hands must not shake at all or you will get a broken battery or you will have to live without your hands for the rest of your life.
But when you do actually get a Pandora's Battery from somewhere, the rest of the custom firmware process is very easy. You just need to have a memory stick big enough to hold all the files, and it also needs to be an authentic Memory Stick PRO Duo.

hehe lol
master you really think its easy? cutting and soldering psp stuff in general is quite hard. And if you never did any soldering before it would just endup in a fiasco.

Re: Need info about CFW
no need for soldering. u just gotta find a way to lift pin 5 up. lol its quite tiny but i have a spare battery. anyways your not rly supposed to try to re-solder the pin im about to cut the pin. it cant explode (most likely not too) if u just remove the pin anyways. heh lol if it does ill throw it in the snow. im not the least bit scared.

Re: Need info about CFW
Yeah the battery is the same as Pandora's Battery. And you can't downgrade with it to 1.50, because your PSP is a Slim, and Slim has a new screen which doesn't currently support 1.5 kernel. It gets directly updated to the latest custom firmware. You could ask Duelord, I think he has hacked his Slim.

Re: Need info about CFW
Yeah you have a tool battery and to make the memorystick files you download the program named TOTALNewbi easyInstaller then you just follow the instructuins in the program and it does everything for you. Oh, and the program requires widnows XP, Vista won't work so i had to use Vmware lol.

Re: Need info about CFW
But if you have Vista you can just do all the stuff manually, download the files manually and put them on the MS manually.

No, you can't.
The program writes to some sector things on the memorystick or something like that.

Re: Need info about CFW
You can still use your memstick, but remember you could ask friends of yours first if they wanted an upgraded psp.
The procedure is exactly the same with both types of psps.
And if you are not doing anykind of upgrading anymore, then you can just format your memstick, then use it normally like you did before.
just remember, this is important! Never try to downgrade your psp to a firmware below 3.6O. If you do that then you have a brick.
pspslim 200x compatible cfirmware is this one 3.71M33/2/3/4

None of my friends have a working psp, and im downloading this thingy from http://www.pspmod.com/forums/firmware/2 … vista.html
Because i have vista.....
I think this puts all the stuff i need.....
The only place i can find a tool battery is on the web, I called my local gamestop and they only have normal batterys, I would just buy one and hardmod it but there 50 bucks......
