Re: Screen of death
maybe you should rename the name of the thread??
the death screen can happen if you start the upgrade to the new fw and the take the battery out of your psp which is silly. But i did coz i didnt want to upgrade to 3.51 when i had 3.50

Re: Screen of death
no, it is actually a good thing the screen of death. you can compare it with the blue custom fw recovery mode.
through this you recover your psp to the previous fw

Re: Screen of death
I haven't heard of the PSoD (Purple Screen of Death) and neither has Google...
I just guess you made it up.
*edit* I checked the file which stores the death screens (system_plugin.rco) with RCOEditor 1.14b and there was nothing even close to a purple screen of death...

Re: Screen of death
Oh wow... In that case I guess it's not stored in system_plugin.rco but somewhere else... Maybe in the file that takes care of UMDs...

If something is very wrong inside your PSP you might get it. In that case it is best to call the customer support line or update/downgrade and wish that fixes it
*hopes he will never get one of those*

Re: Screen of death
By the way, this happens because the PSP thinks that there is an UMD in the drive and starts to read it when you pull the laser down and therefore it dosn't find UMD_data.bin and says that it's corrupt. So basicly just a "File not found" error.

Re: Screen of death
Hmm, odd. The only place that is posted is pspdemocenter.org forums.
And even weirder thing is, that this error screen is not stored inside the PSP's flash0, probably in the UMD, but how can the screen come up if no UMD is even inserted?!
Oh, and when it says "umd_data.bin corrupt. Press O to restore UMD data", how can it "restore" the UMD data just like that?! UMD's are read-only!
Also, removing battery clears the cache, so how could it say that?
Oh and btw, this is the same as if you would start the UMD game, then shut your PSP down, then remove the UMD and turn back on. It doesn't work you will not get PSoD!! It's not possible.
The guy just wanted some reputation.
*edit* I just had to try to prove anyone that this doesn't work, and:
Sorry I couldn't find my digicam so I had to use my mobile phone's camera which sucks.
I Guess I was wrong after all... Not sure... But hey if you got Purple Screen of Death, did it look like that sfc2000?

You know what? Download that picture I took to your computer, and open it with your favorite HEX editor, and scroll down to the end. You will see something cool.
