Pandora's Battery not working in PSP Slim?

QJ wrote:

The Pandora's Battery has been the talk of the PSP community ever since it came out. This creation by Team C+D unbricks any and all PSPs. As expected this was well received by those who inadvertently broke their PSP.

While this was said to work on all units it doesn't seem to apply to the PSP Slim. A recent video on YouTube made by whisNL shows him trying to use Pandora's Battery on the newer handheld. A commenter noted that this could be because Sony placed the necessary files in a different location or that Sony has put a lock on the files which only they can access.

While we can't say for certain what prevents the battery from working on the PSP Slim, there's some evidence here to suggest that the Prometheus Project's battery doesn't work with Sony's new PSP. We'll be looking at this closely and be reporting back with more updates on it. In the meantime, let us know if this will keep you from buying a PSP Slim in the near future.

Thanks to JaXeRiR for the hot tip!

So, I saw the video at YouTube and e-mailed QJ about it and it got featured on the main page. I was also the "commenter" who noted about Sony putting the files in different place or putting a lock in them. Check it out here:

Re: Pandora's Battery not working in PSP Slim?

LOL! I was just over at YouTube watching Slim related vids when I saw that video and I went over to pspupdates.qj.net to check if there was a news post about it and there wasn't, so I emailed them about this and a few hours later it was on the page.

It is now almost the most Jumped news post there.

So... Do you still have the problems with the USB that can't connect through XMB?

Re: Pandora's Battery not working in PSP Slim?

Yes, I am still having problems if I enter USB Connection, exit it and go back. Then I get an Internal Error screen and my XMB goes crazy.

Re: Pandora's Battery not working in PSP Slim?

...And that might just happen not on purpose, like today. I just transferred some files over to my PSP, and then I exited to the menu and shutted my PSP down. Then I turned it on and tried to connect it again to my PC to transfer some more files. And like you can guess, I get a hardware error and I have to completely shut it down.

But I don't do it on purpose, that would just be stupid.

*edit!!!* I searched a bit more all over the internet, and I found out that many people seem to have this problem. Then, I started thinking... What if I restore my default settings? That could be the answer, but if the problem is with my IDStorage keys then that won't fix it. But I had to try this. And I did, and now I don't get the error screen anymore!!! I don't know what the heck was wrong in my flash1 but restoring default settings fixed it. I couldn't believe it myself so I tried by going back and forth to USB Connection (or Data Transfer, as I have renamed it big_smile) and I did not get the error screen anymore!!! This is wonderful as now there is nothing wrong with my PSP!

Thanks for asking if I still get the error and starting this conversation, it helped me a lot!

And now on to fix my recovery menu settings again...

Re: Pandora's Battery not working in PSP Slim?

Well, I'd hate to say anything like "I said you would regret your decision to go on official 3.52," but hey, you did. Luckily, for everyone of us, we're not totally screwed if we happen to brick, which, hopefully won't happen to anyone of us. Too bad you don't know anyone with a 1.5/custom firmware PSP. Almost all my friends who have a PSP now have it on 3.40 OE-A, since I helped them to get it. Now, if I/anyone of them brick, we can get an unbricker battery.

Oh, and there's also being sold this Datel MaxPower TOOL PSP Battery, which works like Pandora's battery, but I won't suggest buying that since they have just ripped the concept from Team C+D and Noobz, and never did give them any credit. Although, the battery costs as much as a normal one for that matter, but it would be better if there was a sticker on the box saying like "Concept developed by Elite PSP Hacker Team C+D" or something like that. Not that we would see that happen. But as long as it does not happen I will just boycot all Datel stuff and not buy a single thing from them, since the TOOL battery could be really useful, it's red not to be mistaken as a normal battery.

Re: Pandora's Battery not working in PSP Slim?

Nah, I'm just going to wait until Team Wildcard releases 3.52*. I just don't like M33 firmwares.

**edit** Oh, too bad, the internal error happened again sad Too bad. I just don't get why restoring default settings took it away for a while. Maybe my theme or some of my plugins is incombatible with my PSP. Who knows... Well, I guess it doesn't matter so much, I could just use my memory card reader. I would get higher speeds with it also, since my 4GB memory card is Ultra II series and it supports up to 10MB per second writing/reading speeds. But connected through my PSP it only uses the original PSP speed, which is about 1-4MBs per second.
