Flash Development Thread: KEEP PSPFLASHGAMING GOING!!

After i heard that a few of you were up for trying to save this site i thought it was time to take action. So here we are!!

I suppose the best thing to do would be to ask if anyone has any unfinished/abandoned projects that should be completed. I have:

a mario game

and

an unfinished entry to tallphil's competition

Have any of you guys got anything worth working on?

Anyway, I think you should first try how that "loading another swf for every level" thing works out for either flash game. Make it something really simple to see how the PSP handles that. So we'll know what we can do with it.

Anyway, I've found a really slow torrent for Flash MX 2004... I hope it'll be done by tomorrow

i dont think that new games r the solution. the problem is that this site doesnt offer much. it gets boring when u can only do 2 things like play games and look at the forum. so focus on the whole site not on just the games.

We do care for the site. The main problem is that I have recently graduated from university and have moved away to start my career which is at the moment taking up most of my time. Also a lack of an Internet connection does not help.

I currently have 1 game near to release I just have to sort out the graphics and menus. There is a post about it here and I have developed some code which allows the game to be saved on the PSP.

As for adding other things to the site we are always open for ideas. We do offer wallpapers but we do not really get any sent to us.

Also we could do with more developers I have some ideas for games such as a warioware style game that would require an entire team to develop.

I am pretty much settled in to my job now and will be able to put some more time and effort in to the site, we can only do our best and these times are very busy for both me and phil.

Wow, well done on graduation. It's also great to see more people taking an interest and non-developers giving ideas.

I don't think so. By the way, there's no problems linking the levels of games.

mabye someone should make asteroids left/right is rotate X shoot up forward down backward
EDIT:also escape games r fun only if they r scary or funny

im recently new and can only program basic lol but like what that one dude was saying the sitte is playing games and forum stuff..... we need to add a flash movie section and other flash programs maybe a lil javascript too, maybe some art , manga comics, and psp news all that stuff.... Not just a psp flash game site but all around psp center!

But for the guy that wants to make a game, try to make a Defense game, they are the poop on a stick(defend the castle and demonic defence).

Defense game:
view= helicopter or god(looking down on)
base= fort/castle
enemy=red colored in circles(demons)
you=blue colored in circles(warriors)
every kill=1gc(1 gold coin)
enemy boss=bigger filled in red circle maybe horns
boss kill=4gc(4 gold coin)


buyable items:
mud ditch=3(slows enemy lil when goes threw)(max 2)
Moat=13(moat slows them most when walked threw)(max1)
archer=16(max 4)
carpentry place=30 (to give generate castles health up)
cannon=20(max1)(2 cannoneers to man)
cannoneers=18(max2)

Well... I agree at some parts with your post, hiiamevil, but there are already "psp-centers", which are for anything related to PSP. I think that it's nice that we are "specialized" in flash games for PSP, although most of the members can't even code and we talk about a lot of other things than just flash gaming on PSP.

But my point is, I think that manga comics and art sections wouldn't fit this site, and there aren't that much members here that would be interested in manga comics and art... I guess. Right?

i see what your saying, we could make this site just about anything flash related for psp or not psp related at all.... idea that i have is to advertise the site as a helpful flash community(with tutorials what not, if we dont got already) I personally dont know flash and im starting to program c++ so i cant really help at the moment with coding sad

Dude! Learn AS first! I'm sure it's a lot simpler and more useful unless you're going into full PC game programming. You don't even need to know a lot about scripting to make a half decent game. The one I'm currently developing consists of some code to make the ship follow the mouse, some code that tells the bombs to re-generate at a random y coordinate and some hitTests

AS = actionscript, the code used in flash.

And I agree, actionscript was the first code that I learnt - flash is a nice entry point for learning code as it's a mix of design based creation and code. As you get better you can use more and more code, and the syntax is very similar to most other codes (eg javascript, PHP, Perl - not sure about C++ as i don't code in it, but i think that too)

As for creating other sections on this site - it's been suggested before, and I agree with both sides of the argument. I did put up the wallpapers page a fair while ago for this reason, to put a bit of diversity in, and I put in the 'reviews' section for mods to write mainsite game reviews, but neither really took off in a big way.

PSP Flash Gaming lives with the games and the forum, and so far it seems to be doing pretty well, so I don't think that adding a manga section etc will really boost our userbase.

As ever, all constructive advice welcome though smile
