Site idea
Im not sure if this goes here or not but its an idea. Feel free to use it or deny it.
What if there was a special members only section were you buy credits to temporarily buy a flash game? Meaning, you buy a bunch of credits for this much money then go to the special page and when you open a link or start up the flash game, it subtracts a few credits. A way to keep the users from downloading the game/movie swf file, you can make a seperate file that loads the game into the movie (Look at the way miniclips.com has its games). This way, people cant save the webpage and take out he game file.
Another idea is that in the specials page, you can submit a game and if the game is played, the submitter gets payed credits or maybe even a small amount of money.
Of course, these games that you have to pay for would be ALL original and cant contain copyrighted material like mario or zelda.
Also, there should of course be a free section with games that either werent good enough to be sold or the owner didnt want to sell it.
I was thinking that the money gained could even help pay for the site to stay up. Maybe even add to webspace or something that costs money.
What do you think of my idea?
Well anyways, I was thinking of looking for a partner with this much skill but thats asking for an awful lot.....

Re: Site idea
Well, it cant be a lot of money ;P
But paying to play some [possibly] commercial quality [mini] games to keep the site up cant be any thing bad! And of course, there would be the free section! Oh and there wont be only six games forever! Im working on a barage of mini games. Hopefuly they will be completed within a month or two. I need some ideas though, feel free to PM me (of course you get to be in credits)!

Re: Site idea
That's not a bad idea actually. Could work well for level based games too, eg the tile based games that are in development at the moment - first couple of levels are free, then 20p a level onwards or something...
I think I agree with dogydude that the site needs a bit more content first though.

Noooo! Don't do it! You see, were all almost from different sides from the world, right? So we would got to have credit cards? And think about this, someone would buy those games, and start releasing them as torrents off the P2P.

Re: Site idea
Hey, what about keeping the games free by adding some advertisements to the games! Like in Jelly, after you've played 3 minutes, Jelly would be like having a shirt which would say $ony and Jelly would say: $ony advises not to use homebrew or something. I'm sure $ony would pay you some big bucks for it!!!

That Was All A Joke:P

Would probably use worldpay or paypal or something - can use debit cards or credit cards. Pretty easy really.

We've already written protection into most of our games meaning that they can only be played when loaded off our server - so if anyone tries to download them and host them elsewhere, eg through p2p or whatever, they wouldn't work.
Don't worry though, this probably isn't ever going to happen. Am considering putting some slightly more invasive ads in though, such as full page ones when you try to play a game with "click here to continue" at the top and an auto continue after 10 seconds etc....

I usually just get annoyed by those and change site - but if the money is going to keep this site up well then...

Re: Site idea
Oh, and one question. Do you get money from those ads when people click them?
And does Google decide what kinda ads they put on pages?

Re: Site idea
But if you happen to get like 100 clicks in a couple of minutes, like you said in the other topic, Google will delete the ads or something? And does this site have ads on other sites?

Re: Site idea
Some of the google ad links redirects to illegal sites where you can download game iso's.

Re: Site idea
Yes they do, but you need to sign up and pay some money, and in return they give you illegal torrents, you need to get a bittorrent client, and then you can download those games - funny thing is that you can get those torrents free from other sites for example torrentspy. (No link, site is illegal)

Re: Site idea
Yeah... They don't even host the games theirself. That's money out of the window.

Re: Site idea
Yep, someone should make a good topic to warn people. But don't just say that they are the links on the right and bottom sides, Google could get mad!

Re: Site idea
we don't need to worry about the content within the ads, as we're not responsible for that - google is.
And the issue regarding loads of clicks in one day isn't as important now, as we get more traffic than we used to. We get on average 40 clicks a day, so someone would have to click an advert a lot of times to make it irregular, and most people have better stuff to do than clicking the same advert 200 times...
