.GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

This is an un-needed topic but I've noticed that if you have a "moving" .GIF file, it won't "move" in PSP's picture viewer, but only in web browser.

Just thinking why has Sony made that kind of decision not to put support for moving GIF's to PSP's pic viewer?

Maybe they forgot. Coming in FW 5.85! big_smile At last a good reason to upgrade! big_smile LOL

Yeah, i have also noticed that. I maybe think it's because if you have an animated gif as the background, it would be too much for the psp with so little ram.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

The reason was because in the old psp firmware, you could use a gif or png image to play a homebrew game.  And we all know Sony's attempts to end that

You mean the tiff exploit? The noobz team found a way to load a .bin file through .tiff image files. I've never heard of launching homebrew from a png or gif image...

Yeah, i've heard about it. But as from i've understanded they were just making a lighter psp, with new design smaller etc... It may not be so much better... Like nintendo relased DS Light, and it was just smaller and lighter, not much better.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

And hopefully it will have 2 nubs... Probably having new games, which won't work on PSP1. And more security - Sony doesn't like homebrew. Which is sad, because i think that the things we buy the things we own, so Sony should let us run homebrew without voiding warranty.

Well, hackers will definitely hack PSP2 too.

Well, most of the people owning a psp dosent know about homebrew. If Sony would allow it, everyone would have knew of it. Then everyone would have downloaded ISO loaders, and have illegally copys of games. Then no one would develop games.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

I meant they would let you run homebrew when they figure out a way to not be able to run pirated ISOs.

If you could run homebrew, it would be easy for hackers to bypass this. It would even be easy for them to make emulators for many consoles, so you could play illegal ps1 games etc...

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

I think this is our (PSP Users) fault; we always gotta get a way to pirate everything. Without those PSP hackers, and sending nice little e-mails to Sony to let us run homebrew, we would all be able to run them.

And then would come some stupid dumb-ass and create an ISO loader, and Sony would turn against us.

Hey... This really WAS the deal with 1.0-1.5.

EDIT: Before you say anything, I mean that players and Sony would have a deal. No pirated games or emulators 'n' all

I think we are REALLY getting offtopic... Maybe we should continue this conversation somewhere else.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

In 1.00, sony did not actually allow people to make homebrew. People just got hold of dev kits, with a sony psp dev kit you can convert many compiling languages to eboot files. Then sony came out with fw 1.5, witch was more secure. But the hackers found an exploit with the % folder...

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

Yeah, I agree.

This is all just like a cat chasing a mouse. Sony is the cat, Hackers are the mouse.

Think what would happen if someone got their hands on the EBOOT.PBP decrypting algorithm.

Homebrews on every firmware.

Hey, and I think that FW 3.11 now has an exploit, (possible) because Sony removed the Certificate Utility from 3.40 and instead you must activate every PS1 game by pressing triangle and Activate Title.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

wouldn't it be impossible for a psp owner to get a psp fw 3.03-3.40 (offical edition) and hack it from there?wonder Or do they have to come out with a downgrader form that version to 1.50 for it? does the same apply for fw 2.71-2.82? I hope they come out with hacks for stuck people(like my friend) pray

hey dark alex and friends..... HELP US!!!

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

Hmm... Didn't really get you, but 2.71-2.82 alredy have their downgraders and homebrew enablers (HENs).

There are many possible exploits for 3.10-3.30 but no-ones (DAX, Noobz or D+C) really proven anything just yet. For example, I've seen a video in YouTube, where this guy first shows that he has 3.11 and then directly goes to Games->Memory Stick and launches KillZone: Liberation demo and suddenly he has DevHook 0.51 open right there - these are called Demo Game Hacks, but no proove of them working has been seen, except for that video, which looks like a cheap fake.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

I think, I have got an idea of what he has done. Yesterday i was hex-editing Kudo:Let's Gakkou to work on my 3.11 and accidentally put MLB'07's DATA.PSP to Kudo Let's Gakkou's EBOOT.PBP. Ok, that DATA.PSP took about 6megs of space. I thought I had Kudo game, started it and suddenly I see MLB'07 loading screen. I'm like WTF?! and shut off my PSP. Then I start thinking that the real MLB'07 takes 150megs. My Kudo version with wrong DATA.PSP takes 6megs. But the game works.

That was weird, so I started experimenting it. I put the non hex-edited DATA.PSP to hex edited Kudo Let's Gakkou, and I was able to start MLB'07 which required 3.30 from 3.11 with hex-edited Kudo game - what about adding DevHook's DATA.PSP inside the EBOOT.PBP to the Kudo game?

Haven't tried that just yet, but I was almost able to run 1.5 "update" via 3.30 EBOOT. It showed the text: "This will upgrade the system software of your PSP to 1.5" and then my PSP froze.

Getting close...

This would not work. Even the data.psp is coded and decrypted not to run on official firmwire.

You mean that I couldn't run any official updates on official firmware? I mean, of course you could run 1.5 update on 3.11 but it just checks your PSP's firmware compared to the firmware the update is offering...

That's how one of the hacks worked. Making PSP think it's 1.0 through some exploit and next "update" to 1.5

Cool, I found a site where this guys PSP tells he has 0.00 as firmware. Just a write error though.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

To run homebrew on official firmwire someone must hack sony's system and find out about the signed decrypted code lines in the eboot file that allows the eboot to be run from official firmwire.

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

so you're trying to say you played mlb 07 and it used only 6 megs of space on your psp!!?? if it works (all the time) do you think people with 32megs should try it.
PS: no, I dont have 32 megs... its just a question

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

I don't really know myself, but I did remove the DATA.PSAR inside Kudo:Lets Gakkou and put in wrong DATA.PSP. Don't really know if PSP just linked the game directly to real MLB'07...

Re: .GIF (Graph. Interchange Format) only in We Browser?

Well, i can tell you the truth. The data.psp inside the mlb demo is just 6 mb, but the mlb demo requiers another file thats called mlbdata.drm that goes inside the folder where the eboot.pbp is. So the only you saw was a loading screen and then it turned off because there was no mlbdata.drm.
