PSP Flash Gaming Portal

I am making a portal for PFG called PFGPortal.

Its going to be an offline/online portal.

Heres a link

http://zuriki.hostwq.net/store/portal.swf

Looks best when loaded on the psp because it uses PNG Bitmaps.

The portal will be customizeable to the extent of you can add as many games to the portal as you want. It will support WMV videos and TXT FAQs.

The updater well, i don't really know what I'll do for that. Probably be a PHP Updater, I'll look into that at a later date.

Ok well it works online but

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

Having trouble loading swfs that you upload to that site btw, not sure if it's just me...

PHP is a severside code, so it'll only work if it runs off an Apache server (ie online). Javascript is possible, but you won't find any scripts that can alter filenames on the client due to security risks (apart from Java, but that doesn't run on the PSP)

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

ooh, shiny bubbles, i recognise them! smile

Like the design - is it xml backed? If so then a server based xml update script should be easy to write...

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

Unfortunatly in the event of loading XML into flash the PSP crash so every thing runs off TXT with simple HTML formatting. smile Lots of CAPS!

Shiny bubbles are common.

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

Really? So loading xml text crashes it, but loading normal text doesn't? Fair enough - text is easy enough to output with PHP anyway. Does your webspace support PHP scripting?
And i know shiny bubbles are common, but i still like them smile

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

Yes my host Supports PHP, JS, CSS and HTML. Just not Perl and of the sort.

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

Perl is virtually identical to PHP (well, the other way around really - PHP is based on Perl) but isn't as well suited to the web. Let me know if you need any help - i've got a few examples kicking around of how to do this (like my flash photo browser on my personal site - grabs info from a sql database and outputs in a text format which the flash reads and uses)

Re: PSP Flash Gaming Portal

Sounds good to me as long as it can add text to a local text file.
