Firmware 3.30 released

Firmware 3.30 is now available via network update. I dont know what this contains yet but the eboot is now 22MB. The only new feature that I have read about is videos  can now be up to 480*272 resolution I suspect the firmware is hiding a few more things as its going from 3.11 to 3.30.

Re: Firmware 3.30 released

Yea, i just saw this on QJ.
Here's the full changelog though:
display thumbnails under RSS Channel
expanded support for PlayStation Network-downloaded PSOne games (but what specific support?)
support for displaying thumbnails for files in VIDEO folder (more reason to use a file stealthing device now, ain't it?)
option to set Disc-Load speed to Fast or Normal

I have two psp's, one with custom firmwire and one with official. So i upgraded the one without CFW on. And i don't think this one should be 3.30 more of 3.12 in my opinion, cause it's not really anything special about it. The only thing i liked was that you now can display thumbnails in the video folder. And 272x480 resoulution support isn't really new, it was there since 3.00.

Re: Firmware 3.30 released

I tried videos up to 480*272 and they did not work so I am not sure what it meant by Increased possible video playback image size as QVGA (320*240) seems to be the max I can get working and I am sure it could do that in previous firmwares. Also I cant find the disc load speed setting at all I am guessing that it does not exist.

Maybe there are some hidden secrets we will just have to wait and see. I have checked the version of flash and its exactly the same so no update there sadly. One thing I have noticed is that my PSP seems to run quicker though now so maybe they have increased the speed of the processor.

Re: Firmware 3.30 released

Sony didn't mean that you can play videos in higher resoulution, but they meant that the size of video files that you can play on the psp has been incrased. I hope that they will remove rss feature and other useless crap in next firmwires so that there are more free space in psp's flash0, and that means you can play larger flash files wink

Re: Firmware 3.30 released

With firmware 3.30 you can play video that is 480*272 and even videos of a larger resolution than the PSPs screen. The problem is many video converters do not produce videos that can play back on the PSP. PSP Video 9 has already released a beta which can convert files that play back at the right resolution. Get the beta here. This is a beta and can only convert videos using 2 profiles so only use if you want to take advantage of the features in firmware 3.30. It did not uninstall my previous PSP Video 9 so you can have both versions.
