CAUTIONZ! IZ A BURGAR.
Hey, hey, hey! FRESH SWEET GAME HERE.
I'm unvieling my newest completed project,
"Caution! Work in Progress!"
Okay, to start off, I'll give you the linkz:
SWF: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1140693/Caution … ogress.swf
HTML: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1140693/Caution … gress.html
Use the D-pad to move and X to jump.
K, so, I was bored and yeah so I made a new game. Basically it's about a middle-class man getting held up by traffic when he is trying to get to his girlfriend. And then something happens at the end. It's a generic platformer, and is my biggest flash game i have made for the PSP. (In size terms, clocking up to around 800kb)
Glitches and bugs might occur, and when that happens, please tell me, I'll fix it immediately
!
Well, I made this after my successful "Xmas Time" which gave me some enthusiasm to continue game devoloping, with the help of LUGIAA (thanks!) who did the music, kept me working on the game, and gave me support and ideas. He also did the background
!
Now, most of you might be thinking "SHINSUKEITO! WTF WERE DA HELZ UR SIDESCROLIN RPG MAN? I WAITIN MORE DEN 20 YEERS!" Yes I haven't forgotten about my RPG, it's just that, I don't get the same enthusiasm with my rpg anymore. It feels like an dead project to me, and I don't think I'll continue. Maybe with some luck and God on my side, I'll have the strength to plow through the workload.
And if I don't, well, I hope you guys don't get mad.

Re: CAUTIONZ! IZ A BURGAR.
Looks good.
When you release from the crouching position, the jump animation is shown.
Other than that 'You kinda did a good job' ![]()
Speaking of dead projects, my artist finally got around to...art stuff and music and stuff, so I finally got something done lol. We're just waiting for some sponsors to like...sponsor and stuff.
Looks good though, havn't been around to see your work all that often lately.
Keep it up, I don't know who else around here has done as much as you.
Maybe i'll actually do something for PSP...now where did I put that piece of junk?

I think Jfig112(111), goofygoober(I don't know where the "0"s go) and some others did a bit of work 'round here, yeah?

I wish that this were a work in progress, it needs to be longer. It was difficult and I really enjoyed the graphics.

WOW! Nice Job. I love the cut scenes. Really great game. The animation is superb and amazingly smooth. The music goes right along with the game.
As for the RPG, most of here are flash devs. and know what it's like to get bored of a project after working on it for a while and wanting to move on to something else. Maybe you'll come back to it some other time. Or you could always just slap a "To Be Continued" at the end of what you've done so far ![]()

Lol, I said "kinda", because when I died it said you "kinda" died.
It's very good.
And if you want I can take a look at whatever code you're using to control it.
And by junk I meant my PSP, haven't touched or seen it for that matter in quite awhile.
Btw, does anyone know if I ever posted that block collapse game? I remember finishing some block thingamabob. I'm gonna go look for that lol.

Haha, thanks! Sorry I couldn't make it longer. The background story doesn't really have much depth, and this game was starting to end up like a "dead" project.

Ahh, the compliments are awesome! I'm taking it all in... and I have to thank Lugiaa for the music! ![]()

Yeah, sure man. Here's hoping you use AS2:
code wrote:
onClipEvent (load) {
force = 2;
xspeed = 0;
friction = 0.7;
jumpForce = 10;
gravity = 0;
jumping = false;
}
onClipEvent (mouseDown) {
if (!jumping && !Key.isDown(40)) {
gravity -= jumpForce;
jumping = true;
}
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
gravity++;
_y += gravity;
_x += xspeed;
xspeed *= friction;
if (Key.isDown(37) && !_root.ladder.hitTest(_x, _y+_height/2-1, true) && !Key.isDown(40)) {
xspeed -= force;
_xscale = -100;
this.gotoAndStop(2);
}
if (Key.isDown(39) && !_root.ladder.hitTest(_x, _y+_height/2-1, true) && !Key.isDown(40)) {
xspeed += force;
_xscale = 100;
this.gotoAndStop(2);
}
if (Key.isDown(40)) {
this.gotoAndStop(4);
}
if (!Key.isDown(37) && !Key.isDown(39) && !Key.isDown(40)) {
this.gotoAndStop(1);
}
if (Key.isDown(37) && Key.isDown(39) && !Key.isDown(40)) {
this.gotoAndStop(1);
}
if (jumping == true && !Key.isDown(40)) {
this.gotoAndStop(3);
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x, _y+22, true)) {
_y--;
jumping = false;
gravity = 0;
climbing = false;
}
if (!_root.ground.hitTest(_x, _y+_height/2+2, true)) {
jumping = true;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x, _y-_height/2, true)) {
_y++;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x+_width/2, _y, true)) {
_x--;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x-_width/2, _y, true)) {
_x++;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x+_width/2, _y+_height/2-_height/8, true)) {
_x--;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x-_width/2, _y+_height/2-_height/8, true)) {
_x++;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x+_width/2, _y-_height/2+_height/8, true)) {
_x--;
}
while (_root.ground.hitTest(_x-_width/2, _y-_height/2+_height/8, true)) {

Or if you have Flash 8, heres the FLA:

Re: CAUTIONZ! IZ A BURGAR.
I tracked it down to this if statement
if (!_root.ground.hitTest(_x, _y+_height/2+2, true)) {
jumping = true;
}
Not entirely sure what the problem is, but it gives a false positive.
So change it to
if (!_root.ground.hitTest(_x, _y+_height/2+2)) {
jumping = true;
}
I'm gonna go for a drive, but when I get back i'm gonna re-write all that movement stuff so it runs more efficiently ![]()

wow this is awesome I love the way your games are evolving so that each game is better than the last. I'm a bit late to comment as I've been at a science project all week (my project was on subliminal messaging if for some reason you wanted to know
). If I get a chance ill swap the one on PFZ for the one without the jump glich. keep up the good work ![]()

Haha, thanks for the compliments and the game-swap in PFZ!
(Btw, subliminal messaging doesn't work right? It was proven false a couple of times, yeah?)

Re: CAUTIONZ! IZ A BURGAR.
Thanks man!
I don't think I'll be making any games for a while, not even for the PFZ Easter competition. Sorry. The reason behind this is because I am making a non-PSP flash game with my friend and some others and I think this project might last a while.
Btw, lol @ your sig! xD

Wow, all your games are really polished! How do you do it?
I liked this too, except the weed monsters yellow blast things kill me when I'm about 20 pixels away from them.
Did you draw this all in flash?

Nice, never got the nack for sprite art, I'm more of a mouse freestyler. Anything cartoony with big glowing eyes... and fangs... and blood...
jk.
I thought you used some sprite making program instead of flash.

When I'm finished Moovlin PC, we should definetly collaborate on some project. I was thinking of making a flash based fan fiction sequel to Final Fantasy VII.
I dunno if you know that game or not, if not, check it out.

jfig...... you just became my hero! (i have always been a fan of youre moovlin series btw)
ff7 is one of my favorite games,
but one problem with making a sequel to it: square-enix already made 2, the movie "Advent children" (2 years later) and the ps2 shooter "Dirge of Cerberus" (3 years later), but you could easily make one that takes place after DoC, Sephiroth's final line in advent children gives the sense that he's not done yet, and the secret ending of Dirge of Cerberus show's a newer character (Genesis) saying to the villan of that game "now is not the time for slumber" (but it's later explained that Genesis has turned good, and feels that he needs to redeem himself), so it implies that something bad is gonna happen that he will try to stop.
what im trying to say is you can make a sequel that takes place 4 years after the events in ff7 with a 3rd return of sephiroth, playable characters can include cloud, genesis, and possibly Rufus shinra (it explains that he survived (although was badly injured) and feels he owes a debt to the planet).
i guess im a bit of an ff fan.... ![]()

What I was think of doing is adding a new character.
I don't know if even you hardcore fanboys remember, but...
When you go on your submarine, you find a crashed plane with a ton of sweet items on board. My idea was to incorporate some type of story explaining why the plane is there, e.g.
Maybe another villian had a plane crash but managed to survive inside the plane and has been living there ever since, developing a secret weapon.
I didn't like the characters from Advent Children, or maybe I'm retarded, but that shorter-haired person that turns into Sepiroth is a bit of a turd. ![]()

HELL NO JFIG WTH WERE YOU THINKING COLLABORATING WITH ME?
Nah jokes, jokes. Chill out. Breathe air. Take a nap or something.
Yeah anyways, not much of a FF fanboy, but I bought the movie, Advent Children, and I thought it was pretty neat. ![]()
Well, I'm up for a double-team-awesome-videogame-makin'-adventure, but the thing is though, I'm already collaboratin' with my friend and it's a pretty heavy project which might wind me down for a while. But the day you see me post a new game on this site, you'll know I'm free! ![]()
Thanks for the offer, though, can't believe a well-known developer like you would ask me! ![]()
